Detailed Itinerary for Spiti Valley (Delhi-Delhi)

Drive through the iconic high passes on the challenging roads with unnumbered waterfalls winding, Nature’s wonder can be best explained through this Spiti valley road trip. Breathe in the fresh air as you sit on the isolated slopes of the last village – ‘Chitkul’ while you soak in the magnificent landscapes surrounded by you.

Route: Shimla – Sarahan – Chitkul – Kalpa- Nako – Tabo- Dhankar- Pin Valley-Kaza – Kunzum pass- Chandratal- Manali

Duration: 9 Days 8 Nights

DETAILED ITINERARY

SHIMLA TO MANALI (EX DELHI) 10 D / 9 N | START & END POINT DELHI

Reach delhi & reporting point Will be ‘Majnu ka Tila’. We will leave for Shimla via volvo. (Bus timing and other details will be shared on WhatsApp group a day before trip starts)

DAY 1

SHIMLA TO SARAHAN 

Distance between Shimla to Sarahan by Road is 161Kms & Travel Time is 4-5hrs. Sarahan is situated at a height of 8,900 Ft and is located in the Kinnaur district. Overnight at a hotel or homestay in Sarahan.

DAY 2

SARAHAN TO CHITKUL 

After breakfast this morning, check-out from your hotel and drive to Chitkul(2670m), 49kms approx.   Chitkul (3400m) the last Village on the old Indo-Tibetan trade route. Walk through the green orchards, by a brilliant stream. Overnight at a hotel or homestay

DAY 3

CHITKUL TO KALPA 

Drive to Kalpa(2670m), 61kms approx. Kalpa is the district headquarters of Kinnaur and was once the favorite getaway of Lord Dalhousie. By the side of Kalpa is a 79-foot rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day.

DAY 4

KALPA – NAKO – TABO

Today’s morning we leave for Tabo village. From this point onwards, one can start noticing what Himachal actually is, and how Spiti along with Ladakh are two of the well known heaven on earth.  Overnight at a hotel or homestay.

DAY 5

TABO-DHANKAR-PIN VALLEY-KAZA

Tabo, Dhankar Lake, and the Pin Valley are the hot favorite tourist places in Spiti Valley. No trip to Spiti can be considered complete without visiting these places. While going to kaza we will cover the two mesmerizing spots ( Dhankar & Pin Valley). Dhankar Monastery is situated at an altitude of 3894 Mtrs. The views in the entire Pin Valley, including Mud village, are just majestic, and the entire valley is mostly virgin, serene, barren and beautiful. Mudh village is the last village connected by motorable road in Spiti Valley though the road. The elevation of the Pin Valley national park ranges from about 3500 Mtrs. Overnight at a hotel or homestay at Kaza

DAY 6

HIKKIM – KOMIC – LANGZA

We begin the day, with a drive to the renowned Key Monastery. With over 1000 years’ worth stories to tell, the Key Monastery situated at a height of 13,668 feet. Then we will move further up the valley to the picturesque village of Kibber. Located at a height of 4205 meters and 18 km from Kaza, we drive to Hikkim where we visit the world’s highest post office in the world, you can write a letter home. A postcard costs around 20 bucks and it’s fun too!!!. Langza is a beautiful village like every small village in Spiti Valley. But Langza has a big buddha statue and we might also get small fossils here. Overnight at a hotel or homestay in Kaza.

DAY 7

KAZA- KUNZUM – CHANDRATAL

Chandertal Lake are situated at an elevation of 4270m. Journey is filled with breath-taking scenery with dry mountains sometimes replaced by greener pastures; tiny waterfalls crashing down the hillside, across the road, down the gorge to join the seemingly innocuous thin turquoise slip of satin far below us, the Spiti River. Situated at an altitude of 4300 meters, Chandratal offers the most splendid views of the Spiti region.  Overnight stay at camps near the lake.

DAY 8

CHANDRATAL TO MANALI

Chandratal-Manali (6-7 hrs drive) The distance be- tween Chandratal & Manali is about 110 kms. After breakfast we will head back to Manali. Departure to Delhi in Volvo. After having evening snacks.

DAY 9

Reach delhi in the morning. Trip ends here! See you next time.
